On Tuesday, March 12, 2019, Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the Sunoco Gas Station located at 14490 North Cleveland Avenue, North Fort Myers, in reference to a suspicious vehicle.
Upon deputies’ arrival, the vehicle had left the area and deputies began canvassing the neighborhood for the vehicle. Deputies found the vehicle in the general vicinity and conducted a traffic stop.
Deputies made contact with the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle. While speaking with the driver, deputies detected a strong odor of raw marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle, which prompted a search of the vehicle.
The investigation revealed several baggies within the vehicle, which contained illegal narcotics. In total, deputies discovered 98.4 grams of Fentanyl, 86.8 grams of Cocaine, and 957.2 grams of Marijuana.
Luis Alfredo Ortiz (DOB 07/20/93) was arrested and charged with Trafficking Fentanyl, Trafficking Cocaine, Marijuana Possession over 20 grams, and Driving without a License.
“I am extremely proud of the efforts of our patrol deputies,” stated Sheriff Carmine Marceno. “Taking illegal and dangerous drugs, such as Fentanyl, off the streets makes our community safer. This drug dealer is behind bars, where he belongs.”
