The Fort Myers Police Department will be running the 11th Annual Cops & Joggers 5K tonight. It will be along a slightly different route due to the construction of the new Luminary hotel in downtown Fort Myers.
Past events were staged and started from Centennial Park. This year’s event and starting location will be at the corner of Edwards Drive and Hendry Street, near the City Pier Building.
The route proceeds to the Edison Bridge and turns north, crossing the bridge into North Fort Myers. Runners will then make a U-turn at W. North Shore Avenue, heading back across the bridge. Runners will return to the corner of Edwards and Hendry for the finish line.
Law enforcement vehicles and personnel will be along the course guiding runners and alerting motorists to the race. Tonight’s Cops & Joggers is up to 957 runners/walkers, making it the largest event ever!
Family events will start at Bay and Hendry Streets in downtown Fort Myers at 5 p.m. The race will get underway at 7:45 p.m. Parking will be very limited and attendees are advised to use the nearby parking garages.
You can still register in person tonight at Edwards and Hendry Street.
