Action Automatic Door & Gate, a division of DuraServ, is accepting gently used, unused and new cellphones and other mobile devices for its fifth Earth Day campaign.
From now through the end of April, the 44-year-old company will donate smartphones, cellphones, and tablets of any make or model to national nonprofit Cell Phones for Soldiers Inc. The public can drop their donations off at one of two Action Automatic showrooms: 11360 Metro Pkwy In Fort Myers and 275 Airport Road in Naples.
Cell Phones for Soldiers will ultimately recycle any device that cannot be activated for use. They extract the valuable materials within them to create money for calling cards for troops, veterans and their families. This demonstrates support for current and former military members, as well as keeps consumer electronics from being discarded in an environmentally harmful way.
Anyone that does not have an unwanted cellphone can offer a monetary donation at CellPhonesforSoldiers.com for the 48th Cell Phones for Soldiers Earth Day Celebration. Earth Day is observed on April 22.
